Start of the dance trip in Maputo
A cosy welcome evening at Fatimas where participants, dancers and musicians meet and greet over a cold drink.
Hoyo-hoyo means welcome in Changana, one of Mozambiques 43 languages.
Week 1 in Inhaca: New years
We welcome the new year with dance
performances from the local dance company of the Island and an open floor for anybody to do some dance steps to the rhythm of the live drums.
Week 1 in Inhaca
To tie the two Lindy Hop taster classes together we invite everyone to an Afro Swing evening at the local cultural center. Jazz tunes primarily from Mozambique and South Africa will be played as we try out our swing outs on the dance floor.
Week 1 in Inhaca; final night
We end the week with a traditional Mozambican party in the beach with open fire, live music, songs and circle dances.
Week 2 in Maputo
An Afro-.House party at the hostals inner yard together with the dance company we work with in this dance trip. Latest tunes from the Mozambican club scene and an open dance floor to share our latest moves
Week 2 in Matola; final of the trip
We travel together to Matola where we, together with the dance teachers and other artists, create a final show. Enjoy an evening of great performances, music, food, dance and a final party until very late...or very early morning.
We will also visit two great places in Maputo:
• Nucleo de Arte; a bar with live music, great vibes and an art gallery.
• Associação dos Músicos Moçambicanos; on their jam evening with an open stage
